Half the questions our advisors answer begin the same way. A client has measured herself and landed between two sizes. She wants to know which way to go. There is a right answer, and it turns less on the numbers than on which garment you are asking about.

Start with the silhouette

A caftan and a tailored set do not fail in the same direction. A caftan hangs from the shoulder and skims everything below it, so a size too generous reads as intentional. A set is held at the waist and the shoulder seam at once, and a size too generous loses the line it was cut for. Between sizes in a caftan, take the larger. Between sizes in a structured piece like the Velvet Throne Set, take the smaller and let us move the hem.

Measure twice, at the widest point

Most between-size confusion comes from a tape that moved. Measure over the underwear you would actually wear with the piece, and keep the tape level across the back. Breathe out normally rather than holding it. When two measurements disagree by more than a centimetre, the third is usually the honest one. When neither size is right

Sometimes the answer is that you are not between sizes at all. You are one size above the waist and another below it, which is ordinary, and which no standard chart accommodates. Every K-Loh piece can be cut to your own measurements at no extra charge. It adds two to three weeks and nothing to the price, and the atelier would far rather do that than have you compromise on a piece you intend to keep for a decade.
