Bleu Jardin Silk Set

The print comes from tiled courtyards, which is where most Moroccan blue eventually comes from. Several blues layered close together, the way glaze looks when it has been fired unevenly and nobody minded.

A ruffled placket softens the neckline without adding bulk, and the cuffs button clean rather than gathering, so the sleeve still reads tailored under a jacket.

The skirt is knife pleated in a solid blue pulled from the darkest part of the print, and it falls to mid calf. Pleats hold their line because they are set in cloth heavy enough to carry them, which is the difference between a pleat that swings and one that has creased into something apologetic by lunchtime.

The blouse tucks. That sounds minor until you have owned a silk blouse that will not, and found yourself smoothing the waistband every twenty minutes. This one goes in and stays, and it holds its drape from the morning through the last meeting of the day.

Silk, printed and cut in Morocco, finished by the same hands that work the embroidery on the heavier pieces. Wear the two together, or take the blouse into the wardrobe you already own.
